Behind the Beat – How My Music Comes to Life (By: K Zeeshan)
Every song has a story—but not just in the lyrics. The real story begins in silence, in scattered thoughts, half-finished lines, and late-night voice memos that only make sense to the one who made them.
As an artist, I’ve always believed that music isn’t just something you create—it’s something you feel, something that finds you. In this blog, I want to pull back the curtain and give you an unfiltered look into how my songs are born, shaped, and eventually shared with the world.
The Spark: Where It All Begins
Sometimes it starts with a single line. Other times, it’s a melody that hums quietly in the back of my mind until I stop everything to chase it.
“Tera Nasha” started with a feeling—an emotional hangover that needed sound to make sense. “Bheegi Hai Barsaatein” was born on a rainy day, quite literally, when the rhythm of raindrops hit differently, echoing a love that felt too distant to hold.
I keep a note on my phone filled with random thoughts, poetic phrases, and titles. They don’t always become songs, but they’re the seeds.
Writing: Lyrics Before Logic
For me, lyrics come first—raw, messy, often deeply personal. I don’t always think about rhyme or rhythm right away. I just write what I need to say. Then I go back and find the music in it.
Sometimes I’ll record voice memos humming the mood I want. Other times, I sit with my guitar or a basic piano loop and just let things flow.
Creating With Others: The Power of Collaboration
Working with Ritam Sarkar has been a game-changer. Whether it’s brainstorming titles, finding the right hook, or pushing each other creatively—we keep the process honest. There’s no ego in the room, just a shared vision to make something real.
Every collaboration teaches me something new. It’s not always smooth, but it’s always worth it.
From Demo to Studio: Building the World
Once the lyrics and melody feel right, we move into the demo phase—layering basic chords, vocal takes, and experimenting with vibes. This is where we shape the emotion. Does the beat lift the words, or does it drown them? Is the silence between notes speaking enough?
It’s a delicate dance between precision and passion. I’ll sometimes listen to the same 10 seconds on repeat just to feel if it hits right.
The Unseen Side: Songs That Stay Hidden
Not every song makes it out. Some stay in the vault—unfinished, unresolved. And that’s okay. They’re part of the journey, too. Maybe they were meant to help me through something, not to be heard by others.
Final Thoughts: Music Is Memory
In the end, my process isn’t perfect. It’s personal. Every track holds a piece of me—sometimes healed, sometimes still hurting. But that’s the beauty of music—it’s alive. It grows as we do.
If you’re an artist reading this, I hope you keep creating. And if you’re a listener, thank you for giving my music a place in your world.
Because every beat, every line, and every pause is written for you.
